“V-ROX electronic“ from japanese geeks to Moscow fashion trend makers

July 29, 2013 at 19:31

A curator of the electronic scene at the main music festival of the summer Vladivostok Rocks (22nd-25th of August) is Sasha Kholenko. He is a founder of the indie label  “how2make records”. Performances of russian and asian dj’s and producers will be held at the Red Bull Music Academy Stage (RBMA). It is an international creative workshop which is run in various countries throughout the world. Besides that, region artists can take part in a workshop of RBMA, to find out more about the experience of working in a studio and creating new tracks, to get answers to any questions and to get updated on the latest news in the music world.

Sasha Kholenko, “how2make label”:

When Ilya Lagutenko offered me to manage the electronic scene at V-ROX, I accepted this offer with lots of enthusiasm. It was decided that the program turns out to be in a way when well-known and expected artists perform with young and perspective ones.

The program was chosen very carefully and as a result it was transformed into a showcase of the how2make label. Residents of the label NVG and Mujuice will perform their new tracks and Nocow, Kulakostas and Hmot will perform in Vladivostok for the first time. These artists have been quite interesting for foreign journalists for a while. Since the festival plans to cover Asian Pacific Region, guests from Japan would be a must to have. They are the students of Red Bull Music Academy – Daisuke Tanabe и Emufucka

Daisuke Tanabe

Daisuke Tanabe’s last visit to Russia was described as follows: “He starts up with some slow glitch electronics but than he speeds up to hip hop and than IDM. Audience starts bowing their heads until they get up and start dancing. The Japanese guy does it well: cold electro is mixed up with funny samples like ‘Yo! Bitch!’ and than he performs some fun remixes of soul reggie with typically Jamaican vocals. Anyways, his music is great.” In both capitals Japanese geeks are in an honorable place. Vladivostok just starts to get to know them.

Emufucka

Under a great moniker there is a shy guy wearing huge glasses. He worked with Submerse, Quarta330, Coco Bryce, My Dry Wet Mess, Djemba Djemba and Count Bass D; released five successful singles and few mixtapes. He got lots of credit from Japanese and western music media. At the roots of this music there is hip hop but one can see lots of other genres in his powerful music. It’s enough to listen to any of his mixes to understand that he isn’t called a wizard in vein.

NVG

One of the most mysterious electro producers in Russia describes his working process like that: “Creating a track is divided in two parts – musical and technical. Melody and freshness is important in the musical part but mastering and mixing quality is important for the technical part. There are lots of different tracks which are written a while ago and they are still good. I can prefer music idea to quality when music is not recorded in the best way but one get positive emotions from it. I’ll keep it as it is.”
