August 23, 2013 at 08:06

On 23rd August (Friday) at 11:00 a.m. in «Artetage» gallery and museum Leroy Brothers’ exhibition will be opened, their art project became a base for the cover of the new Mumiy Troll’s album «SOS Matrosu» («SOS to seaman»). The exhibition is held in the context of the first international festival Vladovostok Rocks.

Belgium company Leroy Brothers was founded by three brothers: Nicolas, Gilles and Gregory in 1997. Brothers were engaged in different art projects connected with mediatechnology and the Internet. In 2007 they started their own art project «Witness Your World». Interactive service «Witness Your World» gives almost unlimited art resources to any user. It simultaneously bears a resemblance to both personal and team Warhol’s «15 minutes of fame».

Mumiy Troll and Leroy Brothers agreed apon common project which connected modern art and music for making a cover front for the band’s new cd. In order to take part in creating the cover front, one had to check-in on witnessyourworld.org which gives an opportunity to upload illustrations and short text messages with a hashtag #mumiytroll. Every 100 hours the best illustrations are mixed up according to some special algorythm. As a result of this ‘cocktail’ the real masterpieces were shown. The top 10, chosen by Mumiy Troll and Leroy Brothers became a design for new band’s record «SOS Matrosu» («SOS to seaman») and will be presented at the exhibition in Vladivostok.

“Today, on the first Vladivostok Rocks (V-ROX) festival’s eve, I am absolutely sure of passing of passing of point of no return. Now we can say that the festival is not just a local event, now we can place Vladivostok ok the map of world musical business.

The interest which was shown by festival’s participants, first of all our neighbors: Korean, Chinese and Japanese musicians, is unexampled. American musical business maitres’ support exceeded all my expectations.

Despite of media skepticism, the most important thing is a wish of young Russian musicians for the festival to take place, and also a wish of young entrepreneurs, who are connected to music, to interlace this event into the town’s life. It will help us to continue our chosen strategy of developing Vladivostok’s image in modern cultural life of Russia and Asian Pacific countries.”
